This porn kitten has become a legit screen actor with mixed success, a transition made somewhat easier by her wholesome girl-next-door looks, and relatively liberal and forgiving times.

Born and raised in Ohio, Lords moved to California with her family and began acting in pornographic films at the age of 15. She made some 100 highly profitable flicks (with titles like "Beverly Hills Copulator" and "New Age Hookers") before being arrested by the FBI in 1986 for being underage (and "strung out on drugs", in her own words).
Redemption came, oddly, through schlockmeister Roger Corman, who cast her in "Not of This Earth" (1988). She garnered respectable notices, though the script did call for her to strip down and display her assets. Most of Lords' film work has been spotty: roles in "Fast Food" (1989), "Shock 'em Dead" (1991), "Raw Nerve" and "A Time to Die" (both 1991), "Desperate Crimes" (1993) and the like ("I turn down tons of stupid scripts every week", she said in the early 90s).
Lords' best work has been for director John Waters, who cast her in supporting roles in "Cry-Baby" (1990) and "Serial Mom" (1994). She acted with Denzel Washington in the 1995 action film "Virtuosity" and with Denis Leary in the comedy "Underworld". A measure of her growing credibility is that director Martin Scorsese almost chose her over Sharon Stone for a pivotal role in "Casino" starring Robert De Niro.
Lords has had considerable success on TV, guesting on HBO's "Tales from the Crypt", Fox's "Married...With Children" and ABC's "Roseanne", and with a recurring role in Fox's nighttime soap "Melrose Place" in 1995. Lords has also appeared in several TV-movies and miniseries , including "Stephen King's 'The Tommyknockers'" (ABC, 1993), "As Good as Dead" (USA, 1995) and "Dead Man's Island" (CBS, 1996). As singer and songwriter, she released her first album, a "techno" disc called "1,000 Fires", in 1995.
In 2000, Lords joined the cast as a regular in the role of an alien fighter in the Sci-Fi Channel series "First Wave". The same year, Lords co-starred with Tyler Mane in "Black Mask 2" (lensed 2000).
